Door County - Day 12

Since we've enjoyed Door County we decided to stay there another whole day. We explored up to the northern tip of the peninsula today. To give you an idea of the distance, the drive from the southern most village in the area to the northern tip of the peninsula is about 25 miles. The distance across is about 10 miles. The terrain is mostly flat, although there are some hills and bluffs over the bay. There are mixed woods and open land. There are orchards and farms, especially in the interior. Further up north there are many cherry orchards with trees now full of red cherries. Late in the day we did our first segway tour, which was a blast. The group was seven, plus the guide. We rode for about two hours (maybe 8 miles) in Peninsula State Park which is a large (3,700 acre), wooded and hilly park. We spent about 30 minutes learning and practicing and then took off.

Cherries on trees.  All the cherry sales places said they wouldn't be ready for about 2 weeks.

Grocery store scene.

We have enjoyed the various local beers up here.

We rode the segways on the roads in the park.

Riding the segway is all about the hips with a light touch to turn it.

We ended the day at Fred & Fuzzy's Waterfront Bar & Grill, located on Sister Bay. Known for Cherry Margaritas, live music and one of the best places to see the sun set. Unfortunately for us, clouds moved in and there was no real sunset this evening.
