This page is in memory of the large pines lost in Memorial & MacGregor Parks in Houston, TX from the Great Drought of 2011

See here photos and portraits of these old trees as they stand dead in place in Memorial Park, shortly before they were cut down. The photos from MacGregor park show the aftermath of the cut (down below). The drought of 2011 was one of the worst in history for the Houston area. Both parks were hit hard. Spring that year was warm but full of wonderful San Diego like dry days. This was because the rains had basically stopped in February. As the hot summer came on, things got bad, and then worse. Relief via rain finally came in mid-October, but by then much damage had been done.
