Day 6: Bar Harbor (1/3)

This was the first of our three full days at Bar Harbor. Today is also the 4th of July, so the small town Bar Harbor July 4th parade was high on our list. We also visited with old friends and made a short sailing trip. We finished with the Bar Harbor fireworks show, which we saw from our cottage, a ways away. We finally had a good weather day after all the rain in Portland.

The start of the parade. Much to my surprise, this small town parade started on time!

Lots of kids enjoyed the parade and were looking to collect lots of thrown candy.

The parade had this bagpipes group, but not any marching bands.

Overthrow candy. And the Shriners, who usually drive those little cars that go around, instead drove little 18 wheelers.

This little girl loved the various characters that came by.

Mrs. Acadia. I’m pretty sure I saw Miss Acadia walking behind this truck?

Of course the farmers were represented. He looks like he’s having a lot of fun!

One interesting note is that, on our travels on this trip, we have hardly seen any farms or farmland..

In the afternoon we were able to go on an excellent sail amongst the Cranberry Islands.

Our day ended with a great lobster meal on a lawn, watching the sunset.
