Iron Mountain, MI to Door County, WI - Day 10

This morning we took care of some business - washing clothes at a local laundromat and eating a pasty. First we stopped at one of the numerous pasty shops to try them out before leaving the Upper Peninsula. We were told we wouldn't find them down in Wisconsin, so we thought we better get them now. We ate while washing the clothes. They were ok, but not great. Maybe a small sample size from one place wasn't fair? Then it was on to Door County, a drive of about 175 miles. We will stay in Door Co. for a couple days. It is at the northern part of the peninsula that juts into Lake Michigan above the town of Green Bay, the bay to the west of the peninsula is Green Bay. Door County is made up of nice little towns (populations in the hundreds) on small bays that bring folks who vacation there in the summer. Interior of the peninsula are farms and orchards. We are staying in Ephraim. Today after checking in, we went to the fireworks at Egg Harbor, about 10 miles away. We ended the night at Wilsons for ice cream. The fast moving exploring will slow for a couple days!

A small town like Iron Mountain, MI had several pasty shops.

Pasty shop. She wasn't very friendly.

Supper club restaurants are big up here, but most I have seen are for sale...

Of course, logging is big in this area.

This is July 2nd.

I like old barns.

Now in Door County, this is in Egg Harbor waiting for the fireworks at dusk. We are back in central time, so sunset is about 8:35pm. Fireworks will be shot across this small bay, so folks are lined up from the park on down to the pier and in boats.

Waiting for fireworks.

Not much of a fireworks shot, but you get the idea. Another beautiful, cool night.

After the fireworks we had great ice cream at Wilson's in Ephriam.

Wilsons.
