Day 3-6: KC to Rochester, MN

Today was another day to make time north. We considered flying up to Minnesota and renting a car, but with the rental shortages and high prices for them, and the advantage of carrying all of the stuff we wanted to carry, we drove.

Our destination today was Rochester, MN, home to the Mayo Clinic and home to my cousin and his wife. We had a great visit with them, another cousin and some of their friends that we’d met in the past. We stayed for 4 nights. Had great visits and made our first visit to the Twin Cities for another baseball game.

Sad to say we quickly motored through Iowa. Both of my parents are from there (Plymouth Co. in the northwest), so I have been through Iowa a lot, but exploration of much of it would be a great future road trip.

Rochester, MN is the Mayo Clinic. It is big and sprawling. Employs over 40,000 people. Very impressive.

One day we made the 72 mile drove to Minneapolis, our first visit there. Another beautiful stadium. Unlike the hot KC game, when this 12 inning game was over after midnight, the temps were in the mid 50sº. And again the good guys won. This time with a dramatic walk-off home run.
